Best Time to Visit Lefkada
Spring (April-May): Perfect weather without the crowds. Temperatures hit 20-25°C, everything's green from winter rains, and accommodation prices are reasonable. Some beach bars haven't opened yet, but honestly? That makes the beaches even better.
I visited in early May and had Porto Katsiki almost to myself. Try doing that in July.
Summer (June-August): Peak season reality check. Gorgeous weather (25-30°C) but expect crowds at famous beaches and higher prices. July and August can be scorching. The upside? Everything's open, nightlife is buzzing, and the water's warmest.

Vasiliki: Popular with windsurfers on the south coast. Laid-back vibe with good tavernas. Great sunset views.
Agios Nikitas: Charming fishing village on the west coast. Small but picturesque, close to some of the best beaches.
The island's beds fill fast in July–August — book ahead, and stay west/south if beaches are your priority, in Town if you want to eat and explore.

Lefkada Town & Agios Nikitas. Give the colourful, earthquake-rebuilt capital half a day, and save an evening for Agios Nikitas — a west-coast fishing village with a coastal path to Mylos Beach and tavernas right on the water.
Windsurfing at Vasiliki & a day on Meganisi. Vasiliki Bay is one of Europe's best windsurf spots (schools rent gear and teach beginners), and a 30-minute boat from Nydri (~€15 return) drops you on tiny Meganisi for the slow, authentic island life Lefkada itself has half outgrown.

Lefkada's food scene impressed me more than expected. Seafood is obviously excellent – try the local catch at any waterfront taverna. But the meat dishes and local specialties deserve attention too.

Lefkada Town: The best variety and most authentic atmosphere. Locals actually eat at these places. Try the small tavernas in the old town for genuine home-style cooking.
Nydri: More touristy but convenient. Waterfront restaurants offer romantic settings but check prices first.
Vasiliki: Excellent seafood tavernas with sunset views. The windsurfing crowd creates a relaxed international atmosphere.
