Zakynthos Airport Transfer: €13–16 Taxi or €23 Private, Explained

Zakynthos International Airport (Dionysios Solomos) sits just 5 km from Zakynthos Town, about a 10-minute drive. There's one terminal, and three real transport options once you land: taxi, private transfer, or the KTEL bus.

How Zakynthos Taxi Pricing Actually Works

Unlike Athens, there's no legally regulated flat fare here. Instead, Zakynthos taxi drivers work from a widely used, informal price table for the island's popular routes — Zakynthos Town, Laganas, Tsilivi, Kalamaki, Argassi. Real prices found for the airport-to-town route cluster around €13–16 by day, up to €20 at night. If your destination isn't on that common list, drivers switch to the meter instead — base fare €3.80 plus €1.65 per km. Worth asking your driver directly which applies to your specific destination before you set off.

Where You're Actually Going

Zakynthos Town, the capital and main port, sits right where the airport-to-town routes above apply. Laganas, the island's busiest resort strip, is genuinely close — just 10–15 minutes from the airport. Kalamaki, next door to Laganas, runs around €10 by taxi. Tsilivi, on the northern side of the bay, and Argassi, just south of the town, are both common enough destinations that most transfer operators list them by name alongside the standard routes.

Private Transfer

A pre-booked private transfer removes the price-table-versus-meter question entirely — you get one fixed number before you land. A standard sedan for up to 4 passengers runs around €23, a minivan for up to 8 around €50, and a minibus for up to 12 around €56, all for the roughly 10-minute ride into town, with similar fixed pricing available to the other resort areas.

The Bus Option, and Its Real Limit

The KTEL bus is the cheapest option by far — around €2.20 per person, roughly 20 minutes. The real limitation is timing: buses only run between 08:30 and 19:30, with gaps of up to several hours between departures depending on season. If your flight lands outside that window, or you're not willing to wait, the bus isn't a realistic option for that specific arrival.

Book Ahead for Summer

Zakynthos is a small island with a strong seasonal squeeze. Transfer operators report booking at least 72 hours ahead during June through August, and taxi queues at the rank can run long in the same window. Outside peak season, taxis and pre-booked transfers are both readily available with little to no wait.
