Practical Tips for Spetses
Getting there. Hydrofoil or catamaran from Piraeus: about 2–2.5 hours. Water taxi from Costa (on the Peloponnese coast, across the strait): about 10 minutes — the fastest route if you're driving from Athens or the Peloponnese. No airport. Spetses also connects to Hydra and Poros by ferry.

Getting around. The town center is car-free — walk, bicycle, or take a horse-drawn carriage. Scooters are allowed and popular. The island's beaches (Agia Paraskevi, Agioi Anargyroi) are reached by water taxi from the harbor (about 15–20 minutes), by the island bus, or by bicycle along the coast road. The island is about 13 km in circumference — a bicycle ride around it takes 1–2 hours.
The beaches. Agia Paraskevi (south coast) is the most popular — sandy, organized, pine-backed, with a couple of good tavernas. Agioi Anargyroi (southwest) is a longer sandy beach, also pine-backed. Both are reached by water taxi or bus. Zogeria (west) is wilder and pebbly. The water around Spetses is clean and warm.
When to visit. June and September are ideal. Spetses fills with Athenian weekenders in July–August — prices peak and hotels sell out.
