Santorini Airport to Perissa Transfer: €25–45, Farther Than You'd Think

Perissa is genuinely further from the airport than its neighbour Kamari — worth knowing if you assumed they're interchangeable — about 13 km, 20–30 minutes by taxi or private transfer, roughly double Kamari's travel time despite both being black sand beach towns on the same general stretch of coast. A metered taxi typically runs €25–35, a private transfer €35–45, in line with the island's broader pricing pattern where longer routes cost more than the short hop to Fira or Kamari.

Not as Close to Kamari as It Sounds

Both towns get mentioned together constantly, and they do share a coastline and a black sand beach, but Perissa sits on the far side of Mesa Vouno — the mountain that Ancient Thera sits on top of — from Kamari. There's a hiking trail over the mountain between the two if you're active and want the view, but by road, it's a real drive around, not a quick hop — worth knowing if you're weighing accommodation between the two rather than assuming you can bounce between them casually.

Getting Here by Bus, Two Legs

No direct bus exists, same pattern as almost everywhere on this island. First leg, airport to Fira, hourly between 6:30am and 11pm, about €1.70–2. Second leg, Fira to Perissa, every 30–60 minutes, roughly 30 minutes, €2.40, running 7am to 10pm. Total fare around €4–4.50 for the two legs, but budget real time for the connection and the wait between buses — especially outside the 7am–10pm window, when the second leg simply isn't running.

What Perissa Offers

A long, dark volcanic sand beach that's genuinely one of the longest continuous stretches on the island, a beachfront promenade of tavernas and bars, and easier access to Ancient Thera from this southern side of Mesa Vouno if that's on your list. It tends to run a little more relaxed and less polished than Kamari's promenade — worth factoring in if you're choosing between the two based on atmosphere rather than just the beach itself.
