Tigaki sits about 15 km from Kos Airport, a straightforward 17–20 minute drive along the Eparchiaki Odos Kos-Kefalou. A taxi runs around €30. The bus takes about 20 minutes too, but costs just €3–€4, with the same catch as elsewhere on the island: you'll likely need a short taxi from the bus stop to your actual hotel, and taxis get genuinely busy in summer, so book ahead if you can.

The Route Itself

The drive passes near Zia, the mountain village famous across Kos for its sunset views and taverna terraces — worth knowing if you fancy a stop on the way rather than heading straight to the beach. Traffic builds during the 8–10am and 5–7pm windows in peak season, so a transfer scheduled outside those hours tends to run noticeably smoother.

What Tigaki Actually Is

Unlike Kardamena's nightlife-first identity, Tigaki is defined by its beach: a long, flat stretch of sand facing the shallow, warm waters between Kos and the Turkish coast, genuinely well suited to families with young children and a well-known spot for windsurfing and kitesurfing when the meltemi winds pick up. It stays noticeably quieter and more low-key than the island's bigger resort towns, without losing easy access to tavernas and beach bars right along the shore.

Taxi or Private Transfer

The direct option, and the one to book ahead for in July and August specifically, since demand at the airport rank can outstrip supply during the busiest arrival windows. A pre-booked transfer sidesteps that entirely, arriving at a fixed price with your driver already waiting.

The Bus

Cheapest option at €3–€4, roughly 20 minutes on the timetable, though real-world door-to-door time often runs longer once you account for the walk from the stop and any wait for a connecting taxi if your hotel isn't directly on the route.
