Skiathos is the Greek island that stacked the deck in its favor. Sixty beaches on a twelve-kilometer island. Practical Tips for Skiathos Hotels
Getting there. Skiathos has an airport (JSI) with flights from Athens (about 40 minutes) and seasonal direct flights from UK and European cities. The runway approach over San Stefanos Beach is famous — planespotters gather to photograph planes passing just meters overhead. Ferries from Volos (1.5 hours by hydrofoil), from Thessaloniki (seasonal), and from Pelion.

Getting around. The bus service along the south coast is excellent — running every 15–20 minutes in summer from Skiathos Town to Koukounaries, stopping at all the major beaches. A car adds flexibility for the quieter coves but isn't essential for the main beaches. The north coast (Lalaria, Kastro) is accessible only by excursion boat from the harbor.
